RICHLAND TOWNSHIP PARK

Richland Township Park is an athletic facility that offers a large shelter house, basketball courts, baseball fields, as well as a new pickle ball court and playground! We have also added a walkway path from the parking lot on Chester Drive on through to the red baseball field. Richland Township leases the shelter house and basketball courts to Ellettsville Parks Department.  The baseball fields are leased by Richland Bean Blossom Youth Sports (RBBYS). Richland Township also leases their old office building, 102 S. Park Street, to the Town of Ellettsville and the Street Department.

Recently we have worked with an architect from Springpoint Architects and Strauser Construction Co. to update the white restroom building by the yellow baseball field to accommodate small children and ADA requirements. We also had B-Tech technicians install locks to ensure the restrooms could be used while you enjoy the park areas. One exciting addition to these restrooms is the bottle-fill drinking fountain in the front of the building! We are continuing to work with Springpoint Architects to make more exciting updates to ensure safety, availability, comfort and enjoyment for our neighbors of the Richland Township.

Other things the Township has updated are the baseball concession stands by adding new roofs, new ceilings, LED lighting, and new painting. In addition to the concessions stands, the baseball dugouts have been upgraded, new bleachers, and concrete pads were installed for the bleachers on the yellow field.  The Township worked with the Boy Scouts Troop 148 to upgrade the basketball courts with new backboards, rims, and paint. We are currently working with an architect to continue updating the concession buildings and bathrooms to ADA compliant. Construction has began on the white building restrooms next to the playground and large shelter building. The Township park is also planning to pave the roadway by the red and blue baseball field for more parking and added safety. We continue to make improvements to the park for the community. The trustee has also added many trees and vegetation to encourage wildlife into the park.

In 2017 Richland Township worked with Monroe County Soil and Water along with Echo Logic to restore the stream bank along side the baseball fields. The Township is currently working to fixed new erosion issues that were caused from the February 2019 flood.

In 2018 Richland Township converted the old Ellettsville swimming pool into a parking lot located on Turtleback/Chester Drive. The parking lot was made to provide additional parking especially during baseball season and the Monroe County Fall Festival.

Richland Township Parks are used every September to host the annual Monroe County Fall Festival.
